Tired of my postmaster thinking he's stopping "terrorism" by giving me a hard time and making it hard for me to receive mail, so I decided to complain to his bosses.
The Postmaster in Fulton Michigan (zip code 49052) is threatening to withhold validly addressed mail unless I bring in a Photo ID. I have been receiving mail at this address for over 28 years (my entire life) and see no reason to have to prove who I am. He is constantly trying to withhold mail for various reasons and this is just the latest scheme. He claims he has been instructed to do these things from the main branch, yet I find no mention of any such policy on usps.gov
He is a constant problem in our town and seems to think that he needs a full description of the contents of every parcel that is sent out from the post office as well. I have never had to tell any other postal worker the exact contents of my packages. It is unacceptable and a breach of my personal privacy. If shipping media mail I have no problem explaining that it is a book that I am shipping, but he will insist on knowing what the book is about. . . is that post office policy? Do you need to know the title of every book we send out? Are you going to read our letters too?
All of this needs to stop. He needs to focus on delivering the mail in a prompt and efficient manner rather than worrying about minute details that he has no business knowing.
Thank you for your time, a prompt response is appreciated.
